Cataracts of eyes part 1

What is cataract?
   Cataract is an eye disease  in which the eyes lens become cloudy and opaque as a resulting decrease the vision.The lens portion of eyes is normally clear.The rays of light enter the eye of retina ,in order to get a clear image on retina the part of eye in front of retina include the lens mus be clear and transparent.Once light reaches retina the light turns into chemical reaction in retina.It initiates an electrical response which is Carrie through optic nerve to the brain.The brain decide what the eyes sees.

Types of cataract

  It is  divided into more types.They are
     The central portion eye called nucleus,outer portion called lens capsule.Between this two part is called cortex.Clouding of  lens can occur only nucleus.This is termed as Nuclear cataract.If the clouding present  the cortex called  Cortical cataract.I f the loss of vision is primarily in capsule termed as Sub capsular cataract.Common type of cataract is called Senile cataract that is related to age.If the lens totally opaque it is termed as Mature cataract.Most mature cataract is white in colour.

Causes of cataract

   Lens is made up of water an protein.This protein is arranged in different way.As we aged protein is joint together to form a cloud in small area of lens.Secondary cataract is similar change in lens and this resulting visual loss.Blunt injury cause secondary cataract immediately or later.Ionising radiation x-rays,ultraviolet rays,infra red radiation cause this problem.Diabetes is associate with he progress of secondary cataract.Many medication take long time also cause secondary cataract.
    Congenital cataract is used when baby born with cloudy lens.Patients who have attract at early stage it affect other members of family due to genetic cause even in the absence of recommended disease.
